Training Jan. 15 - Feb. 15, 2008 This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself and experience the depths of the ancient classical art of Odissi Dance in its rich cultural homeland. This training will be offered in a traditional style with Guru Jyoti Rout herself teaching. She will be teaching the training herself. She will teach one dance item over the month long training. Stepping and items will be taught according to the students level of dance training. 'Tal' (rhythm) classes will be taught by Mardala (classical drum) Master Guru Satchidananda Das. Meditation, pranayam and philosophy classes will be included. This will help students learn how to manifest the dance to it's fullest. Participants will experience the Gurukula system, living in the midst of experienced Odissi artists, namely Guru Jyoti Rout, the founder / director of Jyoti Kala Mandir, and learning from their life style, daily routine and personal experience. To register for this training, a personal interview with Guru Jyoti Rout is required. Students from India should also contact Guru Jyoti Rout. We will be posting previous training requirements needed to take the training, as well as an application to fill out, soon.
